Christian Rosary - Modern Anglican Prayer Beads, Celtic Cross, White Howlite Beads
Here is a handmade Christian rosary, often called Anglican prayer beads. This set features natural white howlite gemstone beads and a silver pewter Celtic cross.
I've used 8mm white howlite beads for the 4 sets of 7 'week' beads, each handlinked with silver rosary wire. The larger cruciform beads are handmade lampwork glass beads finished with silver-plated end caps and wee Swarovski crystals for a touch of sparkle. I've wrire-wrapped the larger beads to give extra strength where needed.
The cross is cast pewter, lightly oxidised and then polished to bring out the details of the Celtic knot design. This design of intertwined and overlapped knots with no end is a reminder of the many times each day our spiritual and physical lives interconnect.
The circle of the Anglican rosary symbolizes the wheel of time. Prayer, which moves around the ring of the rosary, represents the Christian's spiritual pilgrimage through time following Christ as Lord.
Length: approx 12.8" (32.5cm) from center back to end of the cross.
Cross: 1.2" x 0.9" (3cm x 2.25cm)
The Anglican rosary is made up of thirty-three beads representing the years of Christ's life, divided into four groups of seven called weeks. Between each week is a single bead called a cruciform bead. The 33rd bead is the invitatory bead that sits next to the cross, and is a place to begin and end the prayer time, with a cross completing the set.
This rosary comes in a handmade (by me) lined cotton pouch to keep it in, along with a pamphlet explaining a bit about the layout of the beads and some suggestions on how to use them.
This Anglican rosary is made with care and joy here in New Zealand. It is suitable for men or women for personal use, as a thoughtful gift or addition to a collection.
