Anglican Rosary, White Howlite Beads
A lovely handmade Christian / Anglican rosary with olde-worlde design appeal. The beads are natural white howlite stone, teamed with antiqued brass.
I've used 8mm round white howlite beads for the four sets of weeks beads, and 10,, round for the cruciform beads separating the groups. The beads are all hand-linked with brass rosary wire so the rosary flows well in the hands. This is a well-made rosary that will last for many years of prayer and is covered by my lifetime guarantee.
The cross is an ornate pierced filigree style with a wee rose at the center. It has been cast in brass and then lightly oxidized to bring out the detail, then sealed to inhibit tarnishing. The back is smooth.
Length from mid-back to end of cross: 34cm / 13.5 inches
Cross: 5.5cm / 2.2 inches
The Christian rosary has 33 beads and is used in the Anglican, Protestant, Episcopalian and Lutheran Churches among others. While most Christian churches have used prayer beads of some form since the earliest times, this style of 33 beads laid out in 4 groups of 7 beads with larger beads between has been in common use since the 1980's.
This rosary comes in a handmade (by me) lined cotton rosary pouch to keep it in, along with a pamphlet about the Anglican rosary with suggested prayers to start using it. It will be attractively packaged.
